Fourth year group project to provide an engineering solution to tackle fuel poverty in island communities in Scotland.
I acted as project manager with an “elevator” concept pitch, interim report, final presentation and project report being delivered to assessors and board of directors from North Ayrshire Council. We received positive feedback on the project presentation.
Extensive background research was carried out before deciding to focus on a small scale biomass district heating network in the east coast of the Isle of Arran.
A technical design was produced, drawing from heat use data and research into district heating scheme case studies, components and product specifications.
A financial analysis was carried out to provide evidence of financial viability.
Marketing to local communities was carried out including a SWOT analysis and public opinion questionnaire.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
